DEFECT was formed in 1992 in Toplita (Romania), and the line up was:
Tudor Bordea (guitar/vocals), Andrei Hoszu (guitars),
Cristian Petrina (bass) si
Costinel Petrina (drums).
The band's name hints at the "organized chaos" of the Romanian society, their music
expressing both personal feelings - as a repression and social matters - as a protest.
There are also songs abunding in humour. In accordance with the Dictionary of Synonyms
as well as with other sources that want remaining anonymous, Defect also means: anomaly,
balkanic, fucked, bullshit, ass hole, trouble, deranged, mistake, disorder, break down,
imperfection, disablity, inconvenience, son of the bitch, pity, nature, temperament, habit,
inaccomplishment, passion, sin, vice, etc.
The first members of Defect gave several local performances and in 1994 the bands ceased
its activity for a short time because of her guitars player being in the services and because
the Petrina brothers leaving the band from personal reasons. 1995 means a new stage in this
band's life. Richard Balint becomes the drummer of the band and in a trio line up Defect
records the first demo tape, favourably criticized by "Tineretul Liber" paper and
"Vox Pop Rock Magazine". The most signifiant performances during 1995: two
performances at different freshmen balls in Bucharest opening Vank, Valeriu Sterian and
the Sound Company or Holograf. After a year, Richard is replaced by another drummer
Zsigmond "Jigu" Bajko and as a colourful element - a feminin voice Carina Voinea.
After several performances, Andrei and Carina leave the band because of some disagreements
concerning the musical style. Ioan "Nelson" Micu becomes the band's bass guitar player.
In 1998 "Jigu" leaves Defect and Nagy "Ish" Istvan comes in his stead. The musical
style of the band is various and could not be framed Defect using tehno-thrash elements,
alternative, etno and punk one or even power or hardcore riffs. After winning the Grand Prix
at Top T Fest. Buzau offered to the band by Promusic Prod., Defect signs a contract for the
first two recording materials and records the debut album called "De-a amestecatelea"
(Upside down). Beginning with May 5. 2000 the record is promoted and sold in Romania.
The band gives lots of performances to promote the new material but does not neglect the
songs played in Campulung Muscel al Posada Fest. and in Buzau (Romania) at Top T Fest.
where Defect is the head line band on the 1 st day of the Fest.
